A look back at Sister Kate from 2006-2016.
The Black Bottom is a dance which became popular during 1920s amid the Jazz Age. It was danced solo or by couples. Originating among African Americans in the rural South, the black bottom eventually spread to mainstream American culture and became a national craze in the 1920s.
In March 2006, Sister Kate formed as a dance troupe, performing their first routine together, I Got Rhythm. To celebrate their 15th anniversary in 2021, they gathered in the same dance hall to perform the routine again. This is the first time I Got Rhythm has been performed in 15 years.
