Join the Sister Kate Dance Company for a BRAND NEW 4-week class experience, where students will learn a classic 1930s-1940s style chorus line choreography to perform for the public.
Get ready to razzle-dazzle in this high-energy jazz dance class, inspired by the glitz and glamour of the Roaring Twenties and Thirties!
We’re talkin' all about Puttin' on the Ritz, doll—where snappy footwork, sharp moves, and that hotcha style will have you feeling like you’re ready for the big screen.
Try out being a chorus line dancer with us!
Sister Kate Dance Company Boot Camps are a chance for you to get to experience what it’s like to be a jazz-era chorus line dancer.
Over the course of 4 weeks, you will:
Learn an original full-length dance routine, choreographed by a Sister Kate dancer
Work on performance presence on stage
Connect with other eager and enthusiastic local dancers
Perform in front of a live audience where your friends & family can come cheer you on!
It’s a fast-paced wild and crazy dance experience, but we love it so much so that we’ve now taught 24 of them!

Performance costume info
For this boot camp, we are asking students to purchase the following blouse from Amazon ($20)*, which you may pair with any solid black knee-length (or just above the knee) skirt of your choosing.
We ask students to wear a black t-strap dance heel for our classes, with a recommended heel height of 1.5-2”.
*Note: this blouse comes in sizes XS-XL. Please read reviews to see how others found the fit before purchasing. Our goal is actually to add some rhinestones to the bow of the top, so please order as soon as possible to ensure early delivery.
You’ll obviously also need a top hat and cane for the routine, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered there.
For this class you’ll be borrowing a Sister Kate top hat and cane in class.
The cane, you may take home to practice, but the top hats will be returned to the teachers at the end of each week.
Please note: Students are financially responsible for lost SKDC property. Should you happen to lose your cane outside of practice, we ask for a replacement fee of $10.

Boot Camp FAQs
-
So glad you asked! We’ll be dancing to an edited version of "Puttin’ on the Ritz” by Fred Astaire.
-
Not at all, but where’s the fun in that? If you do not wish to perform, but still wish to join the class for exercise purposes, you may attend and just dance on the side whenever formations happen.
-
Believe it or not, yes! It always works out and everyone has a load of fun :)
-
The venue where we like to perform has a bar, so therefore, the space is 21+ according to WA state liquor laws.
-
We’re gonna host a crafting party!!! Your attendance isn’t required, but it’s a super fun way of getting to hang out with your classmates and know them better.
-
It is highly recommended that you attend all classes to give your best performance.
Please note, if you miss week 1, you’ll feel quite far behind as we learn most of the choreography that class.
If you miss the final week, in general, we recommend you don’t perform, as the 4th week of class is also one of the most important.
